Alright for those who asked here is some info on my home foundry setup.

The furnace is built inside half a 10 gallon oil drum. It's refractory lining consists of 2" of castable refractory and 1.5" of lowdensity aluminosilicate firebrick. The lid is 2" of castable on top of 1.5" of firebrick. To facilitate handling the hot lid I built the little crane....

The burner was built to a design I got from C. W. Ammen's book "The Complete Handbook of Sandcasting". It consists of some 2" thick walled steel pipe and a little bit of pipe out the side to admit the LPG I use. The gas inlet is set in the middle of the pipe's length and at the cold end there is an old Nilfisk vacume cleaner set to blow.

I use graphite crucibles for all my bronze casting, but for aluminum I use a steel pot I made.
