Well after a further enforced work related break in proceadings, I'm now back at it, again. I have cast the pullies for the leadscrew drive chain and I have cast the Tailstock base casting. This last one has also been fitted to the ways successfully. Since I started to use a degassing agent for my bronze casting I have been getting some funny results. You can see the effect on the top surface of the base casting. I have come to the concussion that this is a purely cosmetic effect after I tested the first base casting to failure..... However I would still like to know what is going on and how to avoid it in future. Any suggestions would be greatfully accepted.

Well here is a updated shot of the lathe, you can see most of the workings. The rusty looking discs on the headstock are bearing housing closours and also take up the thrust from the lathe spindle during use. They were cut from an old circular saw blade, tough stuff that.
